Having had the privilege of traveling beyond my native county’s borders, I have learned the power of observation and non-verbal communication. The power of common humanity crosses cultures, borders and language. It’s amazing to watch! Knowing that infants soak up the world around them, what is your non-verbal communication conveying to your son or daughter? Is it from a pure loving place? Are you patient as they grapple with new things and do you help them explore by asking questions? Does your lack of planning spill over during inconvenient crying or diaper changes? Does this cause frustration that baby does not fit into your life and schedule or a sense of wonder in you as your new child lets you step outside your comfort zone and routine? What positive or negative energy and emotions are you bringing into your child’s life for him to observe and learn from?
